Action Alert: Support the Jacob K. Javits Gifted and Talented Students Education Program

Deadline for Signatures: March 26

We encourage you to contact your representative in the U.S. House of Representatives to ensure that the Jacob K. Javits Gifted and Talented Students Education Program is funded in the FY2027 federal budget. This program is vital for nurturing the talents of our nation's brightest students and providing them with the resources and opportunities they deserve.

Why is this important?

The Jacob K. Javits Program has been instrumental in supporting gifted education, research, and identification of underserved students. Its continuation is essential to fostering gifted and talented education nationwide, ensuring that all students have the opportunity to reach their full potential.

How can you help?

We are asking you to take action by contacting your representatives in the House of Representatives. Urge them to co-sign the “Dear Colleague” letter advocating support for the Jacob K. Javits Program in the FY2027 federal budget by March 26.

Action Steps:

  • Identify your members of Congress. You can look up information on your Members of Congress here. Call their offices to get the names and email addresses of their education staff.
  • Draft a personalized message to each education staffer, identifying yourself as a constituent and expressing your support for the Jacob K. Javits Program and the importance of funding it in FY2027.
  • Request that your member in the House of Representatives co-sign the “Dear Colleague” letter supporting this vital program. The deadline for signatures is March 26.
  • The leads on the Dear Colleague letter in the House are Rep. Chris Smith (R-NJ) and Rep. Donald Norcross (D-NJ), so individual representatives should contact those offices to co-sign the letter.
Please share this action alert with fellow advocates to amplify our collective voice. Together, we can make a difference.
