NAGC Privacy Policy

NAGC is committed to protecting the privacy of and providing a safe online experience for all its members, while offering the highest quality of services.

Because NAGC gathers certain types of information about and from members to fulfill requests and better serve their needs, we feel you should fully understand the terms and conditions surrounding the collection and use of this information. This privacy statement discloses what information we gather, how we use it, how to correct or change it, and what steps we take to safeguard personal information provided to us both online and offline. Please read the complete policy below and contact nagc@nagc.org should you have any questions.

What Information Does NAGC Collect?

Most data NAGC collects is used only to help us better serve our members. It is our general policy to collect and store only personal information that our members and visitors knowingly provide. If our privacy policies change, we will notify all users by email or a special announcement posted on the website.

General Users. NAGC does not collect any personal information from users browsing its website. Only aggregate data—such as the number of hits per page—are collected. Aggregate data are only used for internal and marketing purposes and do not provide any personally identifying information.

NAGC’s Members, Conference Registrants, and Other Customers. To gain access to members-only resources and personalization features on www.nagc.org, members and other users are asked to register and provide some limited information. This information is submitted voluntarily. NAGC asks users to provide their name, address, organization name, phone, and e-mail. Similar information may be submitted to NAGC through membership applications, conference or seminar registration, publication orders, and subscriptions.

Additionally, for some emails sent in HTML format by NAGC to its members through its electronic newsletters, we may collect specific information regarding what the recipient does with that email. For those emails, NAGC will monitor whether a recipient subsequently clicks through to links provided in the message. Other information collected through this tracking feature includes email address of a user, the date and time of the user's "click," a message number, name of the list from which the message was sent, tracking URL number, and destination page. NAGC only uses this information to enhance its products and distribution of those products to its members. This information is not sold or distributed in any other manner.

How Does NAGC Use Data Collected?

NAGC uses information voluntarily submitted by members and other customers in the following ways:

NAGC Member Services and Products. Generally, NAGC and its direct subsidiaries use data collected to improve its own web content; to respond to visitors' interests, needs and preferences; and to develop new products and services.

Disclosures to Third Parties. NAGC also makes member contact information (name, organization, city, state) available through the NAGC Network Communities to other members using its online communities.  On occasion, NAGC may also provide limited data to third parties that offer products and services. This limited data includes names, job titles, companies, and business addresses, but does not include business phone numbers, business fax numbers, or email addresses. Users may request NAGC refrain from disclosing the data it collects to third parties on the membership application form, conference registration form, or any other form on which they are providing information; an opt-out box will appear on each form on which a user provides information.

Consent to Use Personal Information. For the purposes of the Data Protection Act(s) 1984 and 1998 (as applicable), NAGC and its agents must store, host, and otherwise process the information (including personal data) supplied by the user when registering for the website. The user supplies information as defined above when registering for the website in order to allow NAGC (or its designated agents) to use the information to send the user unsolicited direct mail advertisements, promotions, and solicitations for third parties' products and services.

Privacy of Children on Our Website. NAGC’s website is not intended for use by children under the age of 13, and it does not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. The Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) governs information gathering online from or about children under the age of 13. Verifiable consent from a child's parent or guardian is required before collecting, using, or disclosing personal information from a child under the age of 13.

NAGC collects no information about you or your child, other than that detailed in the previous section, unless you choose to provide information to us. When the NAGC website needs to collect information about a child under 13 years old, COPPA-required information and instructions will be provided by the specific web page that collects information about the child. The web page will specify exactly what the information will be used for, who will see it, and how long it will be kept.

Credit Card Account Information. NAGC does not disclose credit card account information provided by its members and customers. When members and customers choose to pay using their credit cards, NAGC submits the information needed to obtain payment to the appropriate clearinghouse.

How Does NAGC Use Cookies?

NAGC will not sell, rent, or otherwise disclose that information to third parties unless such disclosure is necessary for the purposes set forth in this policy, by law or a policy or notice contained or associated with a specific NAGC product or service.
