Professional Bio

Dr. Kathryn Fishman-Weaver serves as Executive Director of Mizzou Academy, a global and blended K–12 lab school at the University of Missouri, where she and her team support nearly 7,000 students annually across more than 60 countries. Previously a public-school teacher, she championed inclusion and high expectations for students in special education and gifted programs. Her leadership at Mizzou Academy continues this mission and expands her learning globally through school partnerships—including on-site work in Brazil—and leading international education conferences.

Dr. Fishman-Weaver also serves as an Associate Teaching Professor, preparing future teachers, school leaders, and researchers.

An accomplished author, her books often appear on education bestseller lists and address inclusive and connected teaching and leadership especially in the gifted classroom. Her best-selling title Brain-Based Learning in the Gifted Classroom was named by Book Authority as one of the top three gifted student books of all time.

She holds a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis, an M.A. in Special Education, and a B.A. in Sociology. Outside of her professional work, she is an active volunteer, including service as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) for youth in foster care and teaching adult learn-to-swim lessons.
