Javits Program Funding Action Alert Update

Your Voice Is Needed—Support Gifted Education! 

Thank you to those who responded to our Action Alert in July and contacted their members of Congress to support funding for the Jacob K. Javits Gifted and Talented Student Education Program. Approximately 900 messages have been sent, with more being sent each day. Your advocacy is working, as the Senate appropriations proposal for FY26, released in August, maintains funding for the Javits Program at the FY25 level. 

The House Appropriations Committee released the details of its spending bill on September 8. Unfortunately, for the third year in a row, it has proposed eliminating funding for the Javits Program. 

Congress will soon be engaged in negotiations over its spending bills, so everyone’s voice is still needed. NAGC urges you to write to both House and Senate offices to stress the importance of the Javits Program. 

Immediate Action Needed: Urge Congress to Restore Javits Program Funding 

The Jacob K. Javits Gifted and Talented Student Education Program is the only federal funding program specifically focused on supporting gifted and talented learners. It is a lifeline for research, innovation, and equity in gifted education. Losing this important funding would be a significant step backward for the field.
