NAGC Committees

What Do NAGC Committees Do?

Committees are an essential part of how associations carry out their mission and engage members in meaningful work. They bring together volunteers with shared expertise and interests to focus on specific areas of the organization’s priorities, helping to research issues, develop recommendations, and advance initiatives that support the association’s strategic goals.

In addition to driving important work forward throughout the year, committees also strengthen member engagement and leadership development by providing opportunities for collaboration, shared decision-making, and deeper involvement in the organization's work.

The Committee Member Experience

Serving on a committee is a meaningful opportunity to contribute to the association’s governance and programming. While each committee has a distinct focus, all members can expect to:

  • Collaborate: Work alongside a diverse group of peers and experts from across the field.
  • Contribute: Provide input on projects, resources, and initiatives that support the gifted education community.
  • Commit: Serve a three-year term, participate in regular virtual meetings, and engage in project-based work between meetings. (Terms for this cycle begin September 1, 2026, unless otherwise noted.)

Your time and expertise help advance NAGC’s mission to support those who foster the growth and development of gifted and talented children through education, advocacy, community building, and research.

At NAGC, we deeply value the contributions and perspectives our members bring to every aspect of our work. We are committed to fostering a supportive environment where open communication and diverse viewpoints are encouraged. Our goal is to build a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive community that reflects and serves all who support gifted children. To achieve this, we rely on dedicated members like you to serve on committees and help drive meaningful, lasting impact for the students and educators we serve.
