From Framework to Fidelity
As MTSS has become the standard for meeting diverse student needs, including gifted education in this framework is both a challenge and an opportunity. Gifted learners need more than one-size-fits-all solutions, and MTSS offers a framework to meet their needs. Identifying Hidden Talent
There is a need for inclusive methods to identify gifted students, especially from underrepresented groups. A Javits-funded initiative has tested an observation checklist to identify talent during elementary classroom activities, focusing on higher-order thinking and problem-solving. In this session, we share activities and the checklist, offering educators tools to identify and later serve gifted students often overlooked by traditional assessments.
