The National Association for Gifted Children (NAGC) today announced that Karen Brown, Gifted Program Mentor with the Paradise Valley Schools (PVS), will receive the 2018 NAGC Master’s and Specialist Award, presented by Kendall Hunt.

The Master’s and Specialist Award recognizes those who support gifted children in several areas while also furthering their own learning about the nature and needs of gifted students.

“The NAGC awards program shines a light on those who are making a difference in supporting gifted children as they reach to achieve their personal best,” said M. René Islas, NAGC Executive Director.

Ms. Brown will be recognized at the NAGC 65th Annual Convention in Minneapolis, MN, November 15-18, 2018 during the opening session.

“Truly a master teacher and master trainer, Karen supports our school district's nearly sixty gifted teachers by designing curriculum,  providing professional learning, and assisting with parent conferences to name just a few of her seemingly endless tasks,” said Dina Brulles, PVS Director of Gifted Education. “Karen is a passionate, driven, and highly skilled professional who eagerly steps forward to offer support and share her expertise so that our gifted teachers and their students can thrive.”
