The Dr. Martin D. Jenkins Scholar Award is named in honor of Dr. Jenkins, Father of Research on Gifted Black Students, and it is designed to honor the achievements of highly gifted Black students who excel academically in school. The deadline to apply for the 2018 award is Sunday, March 18, 2018 at 11:59 PM EST.
Applicants must be a Black student enrolled in a public school in grades 6-12 and meet at least three of the following criteria:

All materials and questions should be emailed to Dr. Kristina Henry Collins, Special Populations Network Scholar Awards Chair. Awardees and nominators will be notified by email and/or phone call no later than May 15, 2018. Information and directions to attend the special session at the National Association for Gifted Children convention in Charlotte, NC will be sent at that time.
