How can I become a speaker at the Annual Convention and Exhibition?
The deadline to submit a proposal has passed. Be sure to submit your proposal for the 58th Annual Convention this fall!
What is the dress code?
The dress code for Annual Convention is business casual. You may want to bring a sweater as room temperatures are sometimes cooler in convention centers and hotel meeting rooms. Average temperatures for early November in the Atlanta area are 50-55 F.
My organization or company wants to have an event during the NAGC Convention. Can we do that?
All requests for meeting space or hospitality suites must be approved by NAGC, call 202/785-4268.

What does my registration fee include?
The registration fee includes, the Thursday Night Opening Reception, 4 General Sessions, an exhibit hall lunch, afternoon break, Georgia Reception, all educational sessions on Friday through Sunday unless noted otherwise. PLUS - new this year - full access to all recorded sessions following the convention on the NAGC Live Learning Center.
What is the cancellation policy?
Cancellations must be received at NAGC in writing, mail or fax, no later than Monday, October 26, and will be charged a $75 administrative fee. This fee applies to cancellations and changes to your registration. All cancellations must be accompanied by a signature. Emails are not accepted. Action Lab fees are non-refundable after September 18. Refund checks are mailed after January 1, 2011.

Can I register on site?
Yes. There is a surcharge for the privilege. You will find registration forms on the tables near the registration desk. Please complete the form at the table and take the completed form to the On-Site Registration window.
I need to join NAGC because I want to receive the member convention rate. I don’t see anywhere on the form to do this.
All “nonmember” registrations include an NAGC membership. Therefore, you may simply register at the nonmember rate and automatically become a member, or if you are interested in a multi-year membership, go to www.nagc.org. You may complete the appropriate membership form and take it to the On-Site Registration window for processing.
My colleague is registered for the convention, but is unable to attend. Can her/his registration fee be applied to next year’s convention registration or towards membership?
An attendee can cancel in writing, mail or fax, no later than October 26, 2010, to receive a refund minus the $75 processing fee. After that date, no refunds will be given. NAGC is not able to apply the payment to anything else.
I am a student. How do I calculate my registration fee?
Please contact NAGC at 202/785-4268 to receive the student registration form. You must provide proof of your full time student status in the form of a class schedule indicating at least 9 credit hours.
I need to bring my child with me to the convention. Can he/she attend sessions with me? Do you provide daycare?
No children are permitted in the exhibit hall or at sessions. Our convention cannot accommodate children at sessions or other convention events. NAGC does not provide daycare. You may, however, be able to arrange for a babysitter through your hotel. The Local Arrangement committee may also have suggestions for you.
Can my husband/child/Great Aunt Sally attend sessions/eat lunch with me?
No, every attendee must have an official convention badge in order to attend any part of the convention.
Is there a one-day registration?
No. As part of NAGC’s mission, it promotes professional development for individuals serving the needs of gifted and talented students. NAGC feels strongly that participants should engage in all parts of the convention to better the experience. Additionally, NAGC can serve the greatest number of your colleagues by keeping convention registration fees low and not offering multiple discount rates.
Will I receive a registration confirmation?
Yes, if your register online, your registration confirmation will be sent immediately to the email address you listed on your registration form. If you register via mail, a registration confirmation will be mailed to you within 5 business days upon receipt. If you have not received a confirmation within this time, please contact Registration or call 202/785-4268.
I am not a member of NAGC but my co-worker is and cannot attend, can I register using their membership number and receive the member rate?
NAGC will require a photo ID to pick up registrations.
Will I be refunded if I have to cancel my registration?
If you cancel by October 26, NAGC will refund your registration fee minus a $75 processing fee. After that date, no refunds will be given. All refunds will be processed after January 1, 2011.
Can I make my hotel reservations now?
Yes, you have three options to make your reservation. All hotel reservations are made through the Atlanta Housing Bureau.
To take advantage of the discounted rates, go online or use the form on that page to book your reservation by October 7, 2010. Though reservations can be booked through October 21, 2010, we cannot guarantee discounted rates and availability at the contracted hotels after October 7, 2010. Reservation requests can be made by phone, mail, fax, or Internet.

The Hotel is charging me a higher rate than what was listed in the convention program. How do I get the NAGC Annual Convention rate?
The Housing Bureau should extend the convention rate to all NAGC convention participants staying at one of the three convention hotels during the convention. It is possible that your booking did not indicate that you would be attending the convention. Stop at the front desk and show the clerk your NAGC Convention badge and Registration confirmation. They should change your rate. If you continue to have difficulty, please stop by the NAGC Registration Booth and we will have our hotel liaison intercede on your behalf.
I think I can find a cheaper rate! Why should I stay at one of the NAGC Convention hotels?
This is where the action is. Networking opportunities are around every corner and in every elevator. Save time getting to and from the meetings and exhibits, even going back to your room between events to make phone calls and check emails. Please make your reservation at our Convention hotels where we have negotiated contracts to give you the best value and service. If you book outside our block, we fall short of our contractual obligations and will be required to pay fees to make up the difference, which in turn will hurt our organization and the benefits we provide
Will I receive a confirmation of my housing reservation?
Yes, the Housing Bureau will email, fax or mail you your housing confirmation. If you do not receive a confirmation in 14 days after any transaction, please contact the Housing Bureau by calling 404/521-6630.
Will I be refunded if I have to cancel my room reservation?
A room reservation secured by a check as deposit will be assessed a $25 processing fee if cancelled at any time. A room reservation secured with a credit card has until October 7, 2010 (5pm EST) to cancel without penalty (unless otherwise indicated by your assigned hotel). A room reservation cancelled on or after October 8, 2010 (5pm EST), will be charged $50 per room. FAILURE TO CANCEL A ROOM RESERVATION BY 3PM (EST), SEVEN DAYS PRIOR TO YOUR ARRIVAL DATE, FORFIETS THE DEPOSIT.
How do I know what sessions are being offered?
The Virtual Itinerary Planner will be available after May 15th. There you can search and select which sessions you would like to attend and create a calendar for the convention.
|There is so much that I wish to attend, but the sessions are at the same time. Are sessions repeated?
Sessions are not repeated during the conference, but most sessions are audio recorded. Via the NAGC Live Learning Center, all attendees will receive access to the NAGC 2010 Annual Convention Sessions (as released for inclusion) as they happened in Atlanta, wherever and whenever you want - captured as true multimedia with synchronized slides, handouts and much more, or for download in Mp3 format to your iPod or other Mp3 player for easy listening. Listen to a motivating, informative mini-keynote, or hear a compelling session you may have missed. This multimedia offering is an excellent training tool and informational resource for missed courses.
Are there any airfare or rental car discounts?
Are you looking to cut cost and still get the full Convention experience? NAGC has arranged with AirTran, Delta, and Northwest Airlines for you to receive discounts off of the lowest available fare if you book your flight with their group booking agent and use the promo codes below.
AirTran/Hertz Rental Car
Participants will receive a 10% discount off the lowest published fare and discounted rates off rental cars by booking directly with an AirTran Airways EventSavers Coordinator by phone at 1-866-68EVENT (1-866-683-8368). Event Code: (ATL111410) NAGC. Attendees also receive a one time change fee waiver to any itinerary modification, and upgrade to business class when available.
Participants will receive a 2% - 7% discount off lowest published fares. Discounts are only applicable to roundtrip travel and for fares greater than $120 each way. Meeting discounts are available only via phone by calling 1-800-328-1111 and referring to group code (NM5AV) NAGC. The standard $20 non-refundable ticketing fee for phone purchases will be waived.
Flight dates: Discounted flights must arrive no more than four days before the start of the convention and departs no more than three days after the end of the convention.
How do I get from the airport to the hotel or Georgia World Congress Center?
Metro Train Service
The Metro Atlanta Rapid Transportation Authority (MARTA) provides service to downtown in just 15 minutes, one-way fare is $2.00. MARTA runs Monday through Friday from 5:00 a.m. to 1:00 a.m. and from 5:00 a.m. – 12:30 a.m. on the weekends. Trains arrive and depart from stations every 10 minutes on weekdays and every 20 minutes on weekends. The Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport MARTA station is located at the north end of the airport, near baggage claim. The Georgia World Congress Center has two MARTA stations. For access to Buildings A and B, use the Dome/GWCC/Philips Arena/CNN Center Station (W-1). For access to Building C, use the W-1 station above, or use the Vine City Station (W-2). Airport Shuttle Service
Atlanta Link, exclusive service to and from the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport and downtown, midtown, and Buckhead. The Link makes multiple stops at the Georgia World Congress Center. one-way fare to downtown is $16.50, round trip is $29.00. Atlanta has more than 1,500 taxis available. Pre-set flat rates from and to Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport are $30 for downtown, $32 for midtown and $40 for Buckhead. In the downtown business / hotel / convention district there is an $8 flat rate zone. There is a $2 charge for each additional person for all noted rates. Taxis are available at baggage claim, hotels and the Georgia World Congress Center, 7 days a week, 24 hours a day.
Will transportation be provided during the convention?
Many of the hotels are within walking distance to the Georgia World Congress Center, but a shuttle will be provided from the Westin. Those individuals staying at the Marriott are also welcome to use the shuttle. If you require special accommodations, please contact NAGC at 202/785-4268 at the time of your registration.
