Duke TIP’s educational programs are residential summer programs designed to meet the intellectual and social needs of gifted students in grades 5-12. Programs are held on college campuses across the country and in field locations around the world. Duke TIP also offers an online eStudies Program for 8th-12th grade students. Financial aid is available for most programs. Applications, information and course offerings can be found at: www.tip.duke.edu.
CRISIS (grades 5-6) CRISIS is Duke TIP’s first summer residential program for current fifth and sixth graders. Through problem-based learning, CRISIS will build leadership and teamwork skills by asking students to assume the role of a professional on a research team, collaborating with team members to solve a community crisis. They will explore a field such as engineering, business, medicine and health while participating in leadership and development activities designed to help participants discover more about who they are and what they want to be.
SUMMER STUDIES PROGRAMS (grades 7-10)
In Duke TIP Summer Studies Programs, students learn highly challenging material at a rate suited to their advanced abilities. Students enroll in a single course for three weeks of in-depth study. Programs provide an unparalleled opportunity for young scholars to experience college classroom instruction and residence hall living. Campuses include Duke University, Duke Marine Lab, Appalachian State University, Davidson College, University of Kansas, Austin College, Wake Forest University, and Texas A&M.
DOMESTIC & INTERNATIONAL FIELD STUDIES PROGRAMS (grades 9-12) Duke TIP offers challenging adventures in science and humanities for motivated and dedicated students with a desire to learn in a unique setting. Each Field Study involves travel to a location that is ideal for research and creative exploration. The combination of small classes, academic enthusiasm of staff, and the unique on-site opportunities make Field Studies some of the best experiential learning adventures available.
INSTITUTES (grades 9-12)
Duke TIP Institutes are for motivated high school students looking for hands-on, real world experience. Institutes take place at Duke University in North Carolina and New College in Florida.
ESTUDIES PROGRAM (grades 8-12)
eStudies courses are online, interactive distance learning programs. Students connect with instructors, course material, and 10-15 classmates from around the world in virtual “classrooms”. eStudies provides top-notch study of fascinating subjects and ultimate flexibility in schedule and location. |
