NAGC - Nicholas Green Distinguished Student Awards
Unfortunately, funds provided by the Green Family have long been depleted. Thus, to continue the program NAGC relies on annual contributions from states and individuals to support the $500 savings bond at the cost of $250 per bond that each Distinguished Student receives when he or she is selected. With decreased funding available, the NAGC Development Committee voted to take a one year hiatus to re-structure and re-evaluate the Nicholas Green Program. The Committee/NAGC will construct an evaluation system for the award and will conduct an assessment during SY 2012-2013. During this re-evaluation time period, NAGC will not fund the $500 savings bond. However, if individual states wish to purchase saving bonds (at $250) on their own during that year, NAGC will continue to provide the “Certificate of Excellence” signed by the NAGC President and NAGC Executive Director.This is important to remember. During SY 2011-2012, the current application process for the award will remain in place.Moreover, contributions to NAGC from states and individuals will be appreciated for this SY as we struggle to keep the program alive.
